Hey there,
glad you’re taking the time to know more about me and my work. I started back in 2006 as a junior artist in the games industry creating environments for 2,5D adventures. Three years later I built a small outsourcing company that focused on producing 3d assets for games: The Polygonfabrik. For four years I was in charge of the art direction, creating content hands on and managing the studio.
After traveling almost a year and moving back to my birth town Berlin, I decided to go solo again, working as a freelance 3d artist. At that time I was heavily drawn to Virtual Reality. I steered my energy in that direction and got hired for a year in the mixed reality R&D department of Volkswagen creating environments in Unity. The following years I worked on all kinds of products, mostly VR. Though I still like working in mixed reality very much I am keen to work on visualizations that run on desktop as well. Right now I am art directing an open world visualization of a water slide park in Saudi Arabia for desktop which will be also shown in a virtual studio at an event there.
Being part of a great variety of projects is what I love so much about freelancing. That’s how I also became involved with designing user experiences and interfaces as well as creating more art focused experiences. In terms of technical art: I cannot write a single line of code nor put together any blueprints. I am however skilled at finding a good balance between performance and quality, knowing a lot of the tricks to run any experience smoothly. Also I am able to create shaders and particle effects.
I provided a link to most of the projects to give a better understanding of what they are about. Please be aware that the content behind those links is not my creation and I don’t want to take credit for it. I appreciate your time and would be thrilled to hear from you regarding future collaborations.
Best,
Karim
